The Community Care Project, a sub recipient to The AIDS Foundation of South Africa, hosted a Career Jamboree Expo at the Town Hall in KwaDukuza on 27 July 2018. AFSA partnered with the KwaDukuza Local Municipality, ILembe District Municipality, and the Department of Health for the Province of KwaZulu Natal and brought together 18 schools in the area to provide career guidance to the youth of KwaDukuza Local Municipality under the theme of “Finding the Giant in you”. The event was also open to Youths outside of school.
The Chief Whip of KwaDukuza Local Municipality opened the event and encouraged young people to explore entrepreneurship and look at rare skills.
Exhibitors included Durban University of Technology (DUT), the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Nguni School of Fashion, Rosebank College, School of Law, Extra Marks, Department of Education ILembe District, Coastal College KwaZulu Natal, the AIDS Foundation of South Africa, Grow Big Corporation, EThekwini College, KwaDukuza Youth Office and Oval College.
The Community Care Project offered screening services and testing for HIV/AIDS, STIs and TB. AFSA distributed safe sex packs which contained an empowerment skills brochure and other literature, as well as condoms and sanitary pads.
