AFSA will be represented at the Community Care Workers Symposium “Exploring Alternatives” 29 April to 1 May 2010. This is a three-day workshop featuring guest speakers such as the Minister of Health, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi and Thomas Joseph from CARE South Africa and Lesotho. Presentations will be made on the Brazilian model of community care workers, followed by a summary of regional African models as well as provincial South African models. Several key speakers from South African universities will also be presenting and discussing current policy. This forum will provide an opportunity for AFSA to learn and share knowledge with others working in the field of community care work in South Africa.
