AIDS FOUNDATION OF SOUTH AFRICA - 3 Vacancies
The AIDS Foundation of South Africa (AFSA) is a well respected NGO that acts as an interface between Donors and Community Based Organisations (CBO’s) working in the HIV and AIDS sector by placing donor funds with strategically selected CBOs and providing them with ongoing mentorship, technical support & capacity building. We are recruiting the following two positions:
2 x PROJECT OFFICER’s – 1x Northern Cape; 1x Durban
This is a permanent position based in Kimberly, in the Programmes Department. The successful applicant will be required to assist in the in the processes of screening and selection of organisations for funding; monitoring and evaluating the progress of supported organisations through regular site visits and writing detailed reports on the progress of these organisations. The successful candidate will be required to have a relevant degree or diploma in development or related studies; a minimum of 2 years experience in the development field with at least 2 years experience in managing projects; a good understanding of community development and dynamics, strong planning and organising abilities and proven report writing and presentation skills. Fluency in English and at least two of the following South African languages: Sotho, Tswana or Xhosa is also important. As this position requires extensive travelling within the province an unendorsed drivers license and own motor vehicle is essential.
RESEARCH OFFICER - Durban
The person appointed will need to have at least two years experience working in a research capacity particularly in the field of applied research; a Masters Degree in Community Development, Cultural Anthropology, Public Health or a related field with a PhD preferable; Excellent verbal and written English communication and editorial skills; Familiar with qualitative and quantitative data analysis computer software (SPSS); Must have a Code 08 (B) Drivers License and have own transport; Advanced analytical and conceptualization skills; Ability to coordinate, lead, guide and supervise research internship students; Must be fluent in Isizulu or IsiXhosa. Previous experience working in the HIV and AIDS sector would be preferable. Please submit 2 copies of your research publications along with your application.
